I ask that a parent or guardian drops the child off and collects them every day. I need to meet both parents and any other carer of the child prior to their starting as I will not allow a child to be collected by a person I do not know.
I will also ask for a password which will be kept on the child’s record in case parents are unable to collect the child for any reason. It is also helpful (but not necessary) to provide photographs of any other person likely to collect the child from time to time (e.g. grandparents).
Parents are required to inform me if they know in advance that they will be unable to collect the child themselves and who will be collecting them in their place. If the parents do not know in advance, I need to be told as soon as possible, either by text or by a telephone call.
If I am not notified by either parent of a change in arrangements, I will not allow the child to be taken. Likewise, if the person collecting the child cannot tell me the password, I will not allow the child to leave.
It is also very important that parents drop off their children on time every morning as one child arriving late can make everybody late for school. Because of this I would ask that parents inform me of any anticipated lateness or absence by 8am. Late-comers parents will be required to deliver their child directly to school or another pre-arranged venue.
DOCUMENTATION
I am required by law to keep certain documentation and details about the children in my care. Each child’s records are reviewed and updated regularly. These records remain, at all times, confidential and are kept in a secure place. If parents wish to see their child’s records at any time, they are within their rights to do so.
